New Materials Ready: Our Training Updated

Our training has always been a key part of what we do. We deliver sessions focused on the No Recourse to Public Funds condition and the Asylum System to frontline staff, public sector workers, and community organisations across the North East, free of charge!

We’ve taken time over the past few months since our member of staff who previously led our training retired, having done so excellently for three years. The timing of this, coupled with the chaos of late 2025 and early 2026 regarding immigration-related policy, law, and procedures, gave us a natural moment to review and refresh our approach.

With the policy landscape shifting so rapidly, we wanted to ensure our training was not only up to date but also more responsive to attendees’ needs. Consultations, White Papers, and legal changes seen in recent months have created real challenges for all trying to stay informed, and our sessions now reflect these developments more directly. Participants can expect clear, practical updates on the current landscape, alongside reliable signposting to sources they can turn to as the landscape continues to evolve.

Our core materials have been updated with this in mind. Our updated “Intro to NRPF” and “Intro to Asylum” training now includes clearer explanations of what the condition means in practice, more attention to the policy and research context, and practical guidance for supporting individuals and families. We’re also set to refresh our myth-busting materials on asylum, which we’ve found increasingly important given the spread of misinformation in public debate. The leaflet and accompanying workshop have been well received, and we’re glad to offer them alongside our core training.
